Whenever a new Tool album is imminent I get an itch to make some music.
It's tempting to download leaked releases but keep in mind that with Bit Torrent, even if you're downloading a leaked album that you plan to purchase on release day, you're helping people who don't plan to purchase the album download it too.
That's because of the way Bit Torrent works: in order to download a file you also have to upload pieces of the file to other users. We're all for MP3s, but also for giving a ton of money to artists that really deserve it. So, make sure you buy the things you love, otherwise they might not be around any more.

Hi everyone. Some of you might be wondering why the hell this site hasn't been updated in a while...
Here's the story:
We had enough quality songs to release an album, many of which have never been released to the public and aren't available here.
It looked like we needed to come up with about $2,000.00 to produce the album the way we wanted. We didn't have $2,000, though.
I launched a plan to come up with the money, and opened a business called Rebrand Software.
That was in late 2003.
It is a huge time sink, especially considering that I still have a day job and have to run the business from home after work.
However, it's finally paying off and getting to the point where it will be feasible for me to quit my day job soon.
We have every intention of picking up where we left off, and doing this the way we always intended: no labels, no pretty pictures of band members (even though we're almost impossibly attractive), no overpriced CDs, etc...
It's interesting for me to listen to our music with fresh ears. Some of it is real crap, which is amusing, but most of it I still love, especially some of the songs we haven't released.
I read a forum post today that said something along the lines of "this place sucks because mike and ben haven't updated in two years, a shame since the music is actually good". It made me kind of sad to read, but happy that at least one person wishes we were still putting out music...
anyway, expect some changes soon.

It's difficult to keep RebrandSoftware.com running smoothly and run this one as well. Since Rebrand Software makes a lot of money, I have to focus on it...
I'm glad to see that the forums are still full of posts, though, with more and more new members every day!

the deal with album #1
our first album, major f'ing stars, is on the way.
we had planned on an October 31st release, but unfortunately it has been delayed.
the reason is money. as a point of pride, as well as delivering you a quality product, we are having the album professionally manufactured. it will be the quality of a major label release, and include a bonus disc filled with all sorts of cool stuff for at least the first 50 people who buy it.
this takes money, which we are saving, and we will release a playlist as soon as possible.
we think you will be very happy with the final product. please forgive us for the delay.

version 2.0 adds the much requested feature of counting the number of clickthroughs from each site that links to you, as well as some code improvements to speed up processing time.

we have officially started the "major f'ing medley", a collaborative effort between misterbuster, 6 other artists, and users of misterbuster.com.
it works like this:
misterbuster starts a song
the song is passed to a different artist every two weeks
users of the site can hear each version, upload loops for the artists to try to use, make suggestions, etc..
you can visit the working project section to hear the song (when the first version is posted), see all the artists, and upload any loops you'd like us to include.
everyone involved will be given credit and a link to their site.

version 4 of christy = stupid is up in the working project section. we're in the home stretch now, so version 5 should be the final version.
we've also added a links page under the resources directory. you can find all sorts of things there, including links to user/friend sites.

today marks the beginning of our soft-launch with the brilliant folks over at dreamless.org and a few people who managed to find us in the past.
we're looking forward to any suggestions you might have. please post any suggestions, comments, criticisms, etc in the forums.
we'll be doing a final launch in exactly two weeks, which should mean a lot more users since we'll be listing the site on search engines and advertising anywhere we can (that's free). :)

Our Database has been down for a few days now. Apparently the guy who runs our host sold the company and didn't tell anyone. So basically the whole site has been down since it runs off the database.
Anyway, it's back up now, and almost finished. Now that I can work on it again it should be done really soon.

We posted a new version of suck ass, baby! in the songs section. Added some interesting horns and fixed a few messy areas.

I almost forgot. The newsbox works in netscape now. The text is a little bigger than ie, but it's acceptable. I think. Why don't you test it and see?

lots of changes:
fatty so nasty is finished and has been moved to the song page.
our new song, that I tentatively titled sexy fatal style :), is in the working project section.
then newsbox now shows the 5 most current news posts, and scrolls twice as fast.
the working project section has been fixed up to work properly with non-signed up users, and now accepts .wav files up to 2 megs large.
we can now track song downloads by individual songs, and the admin menu (that most of you can't access) has been updated.
and yes, we're still in development. :)
