Acid Music 2.0
this is a brilliant program we couldn't live without. it is used to sequence audio samples. it has so many features, we discover more and more every time we use it.
there are cheap/shareware versions, but we think the $80-$90 we spent for this is well worth it (if you download it, it's only $70!).

amazing for use as a drum machine, but also allows you to load any sounds you want, enabling creation of great bassloops, melodies, anything else you can imagine. |

a great sound editor, even allows you to modify the wave form itself! Comes with good effects as well, noise reduction is especially useful for recordings. |

noteworthy composer
good sheet music composing/playing/exporting to midi software. use it to print out your compositions, or to send us files to use in songs. |

rebirth
this one is is interesting. the interface takes some getting used to, but this program can create great rythms. Some people compose whole songs using only Rebirth. basically, it is a software simulation of 4 different dj instruments |

audiomulch
you can really create any sound you want with this program. it was written by a student, and it has very interesting features. the learning curve is steep, but there are examples to help you get started. this one was suggested to us by the guys in matmos, who make some excelent, and very unique, electronic music. note: the audiomulch site seems to go down a lot. |

scratchit
a fun little toy that lets you scratch .wav files as if they were a record. lot's of fun to use. it only takes mono .wav files, so get goldwave too so you can convert to mono. |

makes your computer talk, lots of different controls to create different pitches, speeds, tones, modulation, etc. remember to type phonetically. |

this takes .wav files and splits them up into individual samples. a great little tool |
